Medical Students

Akras, Deena is a medical student at Stanford University. She earned her M.S. in Community Health and Prevention Research and B.S. in Human Biology, both at Stanford. She has been a member of the Longaker and Wan Labs for most of her time at Stanford studying fibrosis and wound healing. In her free time, Deena enjoys painting portraits, playing volleyball, and good coffee.

Jing, Serena is a medical student at Stanford University. Serena earned her B.S. in Biomedical Computation at Stanford University. During her undergraduate, Serena pursued research in wound healing at the Stanford Wound Care Clinic and is excited to be continuing this interest she developed in the Longaker laboratory. In her free time, Serena enjoys running trails around the Bay Area, ceramics, and re-watching Seinfeld.

Huang, Kelly is a medical student at Stanford University. Kelly earned her B.S. in Biology at UCLA. During her undergraduate and gap years, Kelly pursued research in bone regeneration and quality of life outcomes at the UCLA Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is excited to expand her interest in regenerative medicine research in the Hagey laboratory. In her free time, Kelly enjoys bouldering, yoga, and cafe hopping.

Yao, Hanqi (Caroline) is a medical student at Stanford University. She earned her B.A. in Neuroscience at Amherst College. She has previously studied neurobiological pathways implicated in temperature regulation and quality of life of NF patients.  At the Longaker lab, she is studying regenerative wound healing and the prevention of fibrosis. In her free time, she enjoys playing badminton, raising plants, and exploring cultural landmarks around the Bay.

Young, Bill is a medical student at Stanford University. He received his BS in Molecular Biology at the University of Washington. He previously conducted neurodegeneration research and is interested in tendon fibrosis research at the Longaker Lab. In his free time, he enjoys hiking around the Bay, running, and climbing.

Huang, Kelly is a medical student at Stanford University. Kelly earned her B.S. in Biology at UCLA. Akras, Deena is a Stanford medical student. She majored in Human Biology and with a minor in Art Practice. With experience in clinical research on breast reconstruction, she is interested in the fields of plastic surgery and dermatology and will be studying fibrosis and wound healing in the Longaker and Wan labs. In her free time, Deena enjoys painting portraits, traveling, and playing volleyball on the Stanford women’s club team.
